Dancing Stars…..

I read this quote from Friedrich Nietzsche the other day it curiously reminded me of some advice my mom gave me when I was just a boy. Nietzsche said; “You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star.” My mom said; “You gotta break some eggs to make a Frittata!” (that’s a fancy Italian omelet)

Curious how the exact same process can be described by two completely different concepts……..but I got to thinking…….

Perhaps this swing to the right politically may be the foundation of a “dancing star” or a great Frittata. Perhaps society has to witness the impact of conservative politics on society, especially on the most unfortunate among us, to realize how imbalanced our social structure has become.

Yes pain is on the horizon for those who can least withstand it, but pain is a compelling motivator. If we cannot learn from the lessons history leaves us…”Trickle down economics”…….concentration of wealth….the erosion of true compassion; then we are doomed to repeat the cycle of abuse of power and wealth followed by profit taking and shrinking of the middle class.

We leave the poor and the sick even deeper in despair and poverty as we concentrate wealth to an ever shrinking few.
So go out and break some eggs, go out and create some dancing stars…go out and make a difference, peacefully but with unwavering determination.

About bob sendling

I began my study of meditation and mindfulness seven years ago after a disabling accident. My recovery was being hindered by the animosity I held deeply. I was obsessed by the idea of getting even with those who put me in harm's way, changing the future course of my life dramatically. I first studied privately with a skilled therapist who was a Zen Master. He exposed me to the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh. I still follow those principals in my daily life. I have also studied at A Zen Temple in a group setting and faithfully continue my practice and study. I now teach meditation and mindfulness and maintain this website dedicated to spreading peace and love to a mindful community of spiritual people.
